President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after an extended stay in Europe, dismissing speculation about his health and saying he is fit to resume his duties.
Tinubu spoke briefly with journalists at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday evening after his aircraft landed at about 6pm.
Asked about his vacation, the president simply said, “I enjoyed myself.”
Tinubu also addressed concerns and rumours about his health while he was outside the country, insisting that there was nothing wrong with him.
“Rumours will always emanate from politics. The fact remains that I’m here, healthy, sound and ready to go. Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong,” he said.
The president’s return comes after his extended stay in Europe, during which questions had been raised in some quarters about his health and whereabouts.
Tinubu was received at the airport by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abas Tajudeen, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
His return marks the resumption of his activities in Nigeria following the period he spent outside the country.
